Rev. Roslyn Riley, 

Senior Pastor

Rev. Roslyn Riley is a passionate and dedicated servant leader professionally and vocationally.  She is a native of Shreveport, Louisiana.  The daughter of Mrs. Willie Mae Wilson and the late Jimmy Lee Rasco.  She is the eldest of four siblings (2 brothers and 2 sisters).  Professionally she is a Registered Nurse and has served the community for over 30 years.   Rev. Riley is currently a Nurse Manager at an Outpatient Vascular Center in Silver Springs, Maryland. 

 

Rev. Riley became a member of the AME Church under Senior Pastor, Rev. Dr. Grainger and Co-Pastor Rev. Dr. Jo Ann Browning at Ebenezer AMEC-Fort Washington, Md. in 1996.  She was a member of Empowerment Temple AME Church under Rev. Dr. Jamal Bryant from 2006 to 2008.  In 2008 Rev. Riley transferred her membership to Community of Hope AME Church under Rev. Tony Lee, Senior Pastor. 

 

Rev. Riley served for 11 years at Community of Hope AME Church in a variety of roles.  Her service as a layperson included serving as the church Quarterly Conference secretary, Women Ministry discipleship committee, Women Season special committees and lead to the Stewardess Board.  As a minister, Rev. Riley has served in various capacities such as minister to New Members Ministry (COH Connect), Christian Education, Sunday Church School (Superintendent) and Women’s Ministry Co-Leader.  In 2017 she pastored missionary work at Chapel of Hope, a service of Community of Hope AME Church.  She as well organized and provided monthly Bible Study for residents at Fort Washington Health & Rehabilitation Center until the impact of COVID19.  

 

Rev. Riley served as Co-Chairperson (2015-2020) for the 2nd Episcopal AME Church Potomac District Annual Youth Explosion (Church School Convention) and Chaplain of the Potomac District Church School Council.  She served as the Potomac District Coordinator of Women in Ministry in the Washington Conference from 2019-2020.  Rev. Riley served as the Youth & Young Adult Ministry at Embry AME Church in College Park, Md. from May 2019 to Aug 2020.   She has served as the Assistant Chaplain of the AME Ministerial Alliance-Washington DC & Vicinity since October 2019.   In addition, as of January 2022, she serves as the Washington Conference Women in Ministry Assistant Coordinator.

 

Rev. Riley holds an Associate Degree in Nursing from Prince George’s Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management from Nyack College, and a Master of Divinity from Howard University School of Divinity. 

 

Rev. Riley was licensed as a minister in 2012 by Presiding Elder Louis C. Harvey. She received her Deacon Ordination in 2016 by Bishop William Phillip Deveaux and ordained Itinerant Elder by Bishop James Levert Davis in 2018.   Rev. Roslyn Riley first Pastoral appointment was to Stevenson AME Church in Sparks, Maryland (Baltimore Conference) on August 21, 2020.  She returned to the Washington Conference and received a Pastoral appointment to St. Paul (Dickerson) on April 16, 2021.  She has a servant’s heart and serves humbly.

 

She is a proud mother of her eldest son, Dr. Levy Riley III/daughter-in-law Jinean Riley and youngest son, Zachary Riley.  She is also Nana to the apples of her eye, Levy IV and Olivia. 

 

Her favorite scripture is 1 Corinthians 15:57-58 KJV,  “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” 


 One of her life’s mottos is “Serve to Lead and Lead to Serve”.
